The seven technologies that Eurostat asked about were as follows:

• Machine learning: technology that analyses data (e.g. deep learning)
• Service robots or autonomous vehicles: technology that enables machines to move physically by observing their surroundings and making decisions autonomously
• Robotic process automation: automation of various workflows or assistance with decision-making
• Speech recognition: technology that converts spoken language into a machine-readable format
• Image recognition: technology that identifies objects or people based on images
• Text mining: technology that analyses written text
• Natural language generation: technology that generates written or spoken text
