People receiving long-term care

Long-term care based on the Long-Term Care Act (WLZ) is for people who need to be close to care around the clock and/or who require permanent supervision. Broadly speaking, this care can be provided in two ways:

1. Care in a residential facility
- nursing home or care home
- disabled care facility
- mental care facility

2. Home care (personal budget, modular or full care package)

The figures on long-term care users have been obtained from the Central Administration Office (CAK). These are recorded in order to determine the statutory personal contribution for long-term care that applies to all persons aged 18 and over.

Mortality figures on people receiving long-term care based on the WLZ are combined with figures on mortality from the official Personal Records Database (BRP).
