Following family members

Following family members are family relatives of asylum seekers who have been granted a residence permit. These are family members who have already arrived in the Netherlands and were issed with a residence permit upon entry.

In order to bring family members to the Netherlands, an asylum seeker with a residence/asylum permit needs to apply for a provisional residence permit (MVV) for the relevant family member(s). This application must be submitted within three months of obtaining their asylum permit. Once granted, an MVV is valid for 90 days. The family member(s) can collect the MVV at the embassy of the Netherlands in their country (consular services) and then travel to the Netherlands. The MVV is converted into an asylum permit as soon as the family member enters the Netherlands.
