Statistical correlations LGBTQIA

LGBTQIA individuals in the Safety Monitor sample differed from non-LGBTQIA individuals on a number of background characteristics. For instance, the LGBTQIA group is generally younger, and these individuals are more likely to live in urban areas, their level of education varies, and they are more likely to be born abroad. Given the fact that these characteristics are also related to victimisation and perceptions of safety, these were always taken into account when making comparisons between LGBTQIA people and non-LGBTQIA individuals. In this article, we describe differences between LGBTQIA people and non-LHBTQIA individuals only if those differences remained statistically significant after this adjustment.
