Level of education

This means the highest level of education that an individual has taken part in. It does not mean that they graduated successfully. The level of education is based on a combination of data sourced from the relevant records as well as data from samples. Full data is not available for persons who took part in education before the relevant records were maintained. Education data is available for some of these through sampling. This is particularly relevant for certain demographic groups. For example, older generations underwent education before the relevant records were maintained and so their education was not recorded in full. In the case of many persons born abroad, no data is available on their level of education.
