The 'nature and technology' profile in senior general secondary education (HAVO) and pre-university education (VWO), the profiles 'nature and technology’ and ‘nature and health' (HAVO and VWO) and the ‘engineering and technology' sector in prevocational secondary education (VMBO) are categorised as science and technology subject clusters. The ‘combination sector’ in VMBO is excluded from this cluster, as it often involves non-technical subjects. Some students who have not opted for a technical profile or sector still opt to study a technical subject. However, single optional subjects are not registered and usually do not provide admission to more advanced scientific and engineering programmes. For this reason, those optional subjects have not been included in this news article.
