Asylum migrant

An asylum seeker, status holder (whose asylum application has been accepted) or invited refugee who has been added to the municipal population register. Not everybody who applies for asylum is admitted to the Netherlands and recorded as an immigrant in the municipal population registers.

Asylum seekers who are permitted to stay in the country are usually only registered after they have submitted their asylum application. Registration in the municipal population registers takes place after the asylum seeker has been granted a residence permit and left the central reception centre. However, asylum seekers who stay in a central reception centre for more than six months are also eligible to be added to the municipal population registers.
