Low-income threshold

The income threshold used by CBS to define poverty. The low-income threshold is a fixed amount that represents equal purchasing power for all years and all types of households. The level is based on a one-person household’s social assistance benefit in 1979, when it was at a high level. In the Energy Poverty Monitor, the Low Income (LI) sub-indicator refers to an income with a maximum of 130 percent of the low income threshold, excluding households with financial assets in the top 10 percent of the Netherlands.
