Normalised gross production of electricity from wind energy is calculated according to definitions from the EU Renewable Energy Directive (RED II). The aim is to correct production for changes in weather conditions and thus neutralise fluctuations in the supply of wind energy. Normalised production for all wind energy in the Netherlands in a given reporting year is calculated as follows: the average of the capacity at the beginning and end of a reporting year multiplied by the average production per unit of capacity over the past five years. Since reporting year 2021, this calculation has been done separately for onshore and offshore wind.
