In September 2023, the European Parliament adopted the proposal for the revised Renewable Energy Directive, which will enter into force on 1 January 2025. The RED III sets new, increased targets for renewable energy and reduction of CO2 emissions. It also sets new targets for the use of renewable hydrogen or other renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBO) in the manufacturing and transport sectors.
