Turnover in non-food sector 21.5 percent higher

In January, turnover in the non-food sector was up by 21.5 percent year on year. The volume of sales (adjusted for price changes) grew by 12 percent relative to the same month last year. The strong growth is mainly because last year there was a strict lockdown until 15 January 2022, which affected the non-food sector.

All shops saw year-on-year turnover growth in January. In particular, turnover of clothes shops and shops selling footwear and leather products grew significantly.

Turnover of food shops over 7 percent up

Shops selling food, beverages and tobacco achieved 7.3 percent higher turnover in January compared to the same month last year. The volume of sales, however, was 6.0 percent lower. Turnover generated by supermarkets and by specialist shops was up by 7.9 and 3.0 percent, respectively.
