Formal childcare

Formal childcare means:
• day care for children aged zero to three inclusive;
• out-of-school care - both before and after school and in school holidays - for primary school children;
• care by parent participation crèches or by childminders through a childminder agency.
The Childcare and Nursery Care Quality Requirements Act only applies to formal childcare registered with the municipality. Informal care is not covered by the Childcare Act. School-aged children requiring care during breaks are not covered by this Act either.
