The greenhouse gas (GHG) footprint is the emission of greenhouse gases due to Dutch domestic consumption. This also includes greenhouse gases that are emitted outside the Netherlands for the purpose of Dutch consumption of products and services. On the other hand, emissions released during the production of goods and services intended for export do not count towards the footprint. Fluorinated gases (F-gases) are not included in the calculation. The GHG footprint is used to help gain insight into the impact the expenditures of Dutch residents have on global GHG emissions, regardless of whether the production of goods and services takes place within or outside the Netherlands.
