Manufacturing output prices almost 14 percent up in July

Statistics Netherlands (CBS) reports that prices of Dutch-manufactured products were on average 13.9 percent up in July 2021 year-on-year. In the previous month, prices were 12.6 percent up.

Soaring crude oil prices

Output prices are strongly affected by crude oil price developments. In July 2021, the price of a barrel of crude North Sea Brent oil was almost 63 euros, 67 percent higher than in July 2020. In June 2021, the crude oil barrel price stood at almost 61 euros, approximately 69 percent up on June 2020.

In July, prices of petroleum derivatives were up by 49 percent year-on-year. In June, they were up by 51.7 percent. In the chemical industry as well, output prices are generally linked to crude oil price developments. Output prices of chemical products were 33.9 percent higher in July than in the same month last year. In June, prices increased by 35 percent year-on-year.

Prices in all of the manufacturing industries were higher in July 2021 than in the same month last year.

Prices of manufactured products increased in July

Manufacturing output prices rose by 1.8 percent in July relative to June. They increased by 1.7 percent on the export market and by 1.9 percent on the domestic market.
