House prices almost 9 percent higher in November

In November 2020, prices of owner-occupied dwellings (excluding new constructions) were on average 8.9 percent higher than in the same month one year previously. In 2019, the price increase slowed down, but in 2020 it accelerated again. The index reached a new record high in November 2020.This is evident from price monitoring of existing owner-occupied dwellings by Statistics Netherlands (CBS) and The Netherlands’ Cadastre, Land Registry and Mapping Agency.

House prices show upward trend

House prices reached a low in June 2013. The trend has been upward since then and the index reached a new record high in November 2020. Compared to the low in June 2013, house prices were up by almost 55 percent on average.

More housing transactions in November

According to The Netherlands’ Cadastre, the total number of transactions recorded over the month of November stood at 18,449. This is nearly 1 percent higher than one year previously. Over the first eleven months of this year, a total of 209,303 dwellings were sold. This represents an increase of almost 7 percent relative to the same period in 2019.
