The total installed capacity of solar installations in the Netherlands is calculated on the basis of combining data from a number of registrations (PIR, Certiq, VAT, RVO and EIA). Installations are then broken down into dwellings and businesses and business type based on the existing link with the Addresses and Buildings key register, Klantenbestanden woningen en bedrijven and the Central Connections Register. Quality is safeguarded by applying various correction and control methods, including double counting between registrations and different years, capacities and year of commissioning. Based on the registrations used, at least 95 percent of the total installed capacity in the Netherlands is expected to be known. However, registrations are also known to lag behind, which means that provisional figures may underestimate the installed capacity in that year.
