The figures have been compiled on the basis of the EU Labour Force Survey. The EU LFS is a survey which is conducted among private households on labour participation of persons aged 15 years and over. For the Netherlands, the Dutch labour force survey (EBB) has been used instead of the EU LFS. The EU LFS micro dataset does not contain the required data for all European countries. This survey includes the following countries based on data availability: the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, Norway, Austria, United Kingdom, Sweden and Switzerland. This means that the largest EU countries, the neighbouring countries and some countries which are similar to the Netherlands in terms of size of the labour force and economy are represented.
