“Late effects” of a fall

Accidents in which victims die more than 30 days after falling are classified as accidents due to “late effects” of a fall. The related ICD-10 code for this cause of death is Y86: sequelae of other accidents. This category refers almost exclusively to “late effects” of an accidental fall.

The number of deceased persons due to “late effects” of a fall are not included in the number of deceased persons due to accidental falls.
