Inpatient hospitalisation (in general and academic hospitals and two specialist hospitals) refers to admission to a nursing department for which one or two nursing days are registered. This does not include patients who have only visited the emergency care department or general practitioner. Figures are based on the national basic registration of hospital care (Landelijke Basisregistratie Ziekenhuizen) (DHD, Utrecht) and the Key Register of Persons (Basisregistratie Personen), and have been edited by CBS.
