In view of the merger in 2014 between the largest Christian denomination of the past, the Dutch Reformed Church (NHK), and the second largest Reformed Churches in the Netherlands, membership of the Protestant Church in the Netherlands (PKN) is notably small. Apparently, although a large group would formally be considered Protestants (PKN), relatively many still consider themselves to be a member of either the Dutch Reformed Church (NHK) or the Reformed Churches in the Netherlands (Gereformeerde Kerk).
