Total greenhouse gas emissions

In 2017, total greenhouse gas emissions amounted to 192.5 billion CO₂equivalents, of which 163.3 billion kg of CO₂ emissions. This is 0.6 billion kg lower than mentioned in the CBS publication Monitor of Well-being in May 2018. In the spring of 2019, the series 1990-2017 will become definitive. Greenhouse gas emissions have been calculated in accordance with guidelines under the Kyoto Protocol as introduced in the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (‘2006 Guidelines’). Emissions from international aviation and maritime transport are not included. Neither are emissions from biomass.
