Statistics Netherlands (CBS) reports that the volume of investments in tangible fixed assets was 4.7 percent up in September 2017 relative to the same month last year. The year-on-year growth is smaller than in the preceding month. In September, investments in residential property, airplanes, machinery and passenger cars in particular were up again.

Investment data have not been adjusted for calendar effects. September 2017 has one working day less than September 2016. According to the CBS Investment Radar, the investment climate in the Netherlands is more favourable in November than in September.

Investment climate more favourable in November

Every month, CBS publishes updates on the investment climate in the CBS Investment Radar. Circumstances relevant for investments are, on the one hand, the situation on the commodity markets, and on the other hand, the availability of financial means. Although the Radar indicators show a strong correlation with investments in fixed assets, improved circumstances are not necessarily translated into increased growth in investments.

According to the CBS Investment Radar, the investment climate in the Netherlands is more favourable in November compared to September, mainly because the year-on-year development of Dutch share prices was more favourable. In addition, opinions of Dutch manufacturers about their order books improved.
