International students
International students are students who do not have Dutch nationality and who have been granted access to higher education through a foreign diploma, certificate, a ministerial decision or a decision by the Executive Board. Students who do not have Dutch nationality and whose highest attained preparatory education at the start of higher education is unknown are also counted as international students. Furthermore, students of Dutch nationality who have been granted access to higher education through a foreign diploma are included in the category of international students as well.
These tables include figures on international students who completed a degree in higher education during the academic year 2007/2008. This may be an associate degree, a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, a doctoral degree or a postdoctoral degree.
Some of the international students were not registered in the Municipal Records Database (GBA) at the time of obtaining their diploma. This group is not taken into consideration in the tables, except where stated otherwise.
