Largest growth in investments in over a year

Statistics Netherlands (CBS) reports that the volume of investments in tangible fixed assets was 12.3 percent up in March 2017 relative to the same month last year. This growth is significantly higher than in February. Investments in residential property again showed strong growth in March. Investments in passenger cars, machines and infrastructure were also higher.

Investment data have not been adjusted for calendar effects. March 2017 has one working day more than March 2016. According to the CBS Investment Radar, the investment climate in the Netherlands is more favourable in May than in March.

According to the CBS Investment Radar, the investment climate in the Netherlands improved in May compared to March. This is mainly because the capacity utilisation rate in the manufacturing industry increased. The investment climate is affected by various factors like the situation on the global and financial markets.
