Declaration of Independent Contractor Status, introduced by the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration to remove ambiguity around tax rules which could apply to payments received by contractors from clients. This declaration was important to business clients as it would determine whether they were responsible for payroll taxes. The VAR declaration ceased to exist on 1 May 2016 and was replaced by a so-called model agreement.
