Business confidence

The non-financial private sector is an aggregation of the SIC sections A Agriculture, forestry and fishing; B Mining and quarrying; C Manufacturing; F Construction; G Wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles; H Transportation and Storage; I Accommodation and food service Activities; J Information and communication; L Real estate activities; M Professional, scientific and technical activities; N Administrative and support service activities; R Arts, entertainment and recreation; S Other service activities.  

Business confidence indicates the mood in the Dutch non-financial private sector. It is calculated based on a survey among entrepreneurs on recent developments and expectations, e.g. on turnover development, per individual sector. Subsequently, business confidence is compiled from a weighted average in confidence per sector. Business confidence provides an indication of the direction in which the Dutch economy is expected to develop.
