Statistics Netherlands calculated percentage changes in individual standard household income from one year to the next. Household incomes were adjusted for price developments beforehand. The percentage changes are ranked from lowest to highest and the middle (median) value of this scale represents the average change in purchasing power. The median is preferred over the average, due to uneven distribution in percentage changes.
