For the purpose of drawing a European comparison, this article is based on data from the survey European Union Statistics on Income and Living Conditions. In this survey, well-being is measured among persons from the age of 16 years. This is the population on which Eurostat publishes data on subjective well-being from an international perspective. At the national level, Statistics Netherlands publishes figures on subjective well-being from another survey with Dutch adults as the target population. Due to both the age difference in target population and minor differences in the survey questions, the figures in this article may deviate slightly from the figures published by Statistics Netherlands when the well-being of Dutch population is described without reference to international comparisons.
