Exports of products manufactured in the Netherlands
In the Dutch figures about the value of Dutch exports, a distinction is made between exports of goods manufactured in the Netherlands (Dutch product) and goods which are imported and subsequently exported, usually without further processing (re-exports). The distinction is important, because one euro worth of products manufactured in the Netherlands contributes much more to the Dutch economy (approximately 54 euro cents) than one euro worth of re-exported products (approximately 8 euro cents). The European figures on the value of Dutch exports also cover quasi transit trade, which refers to a flow of goods owned by a non-Dutch resident or company from one country to another over Dutch territory. One euro worth of quasi transit trade contributes less to the Dutch economy than one euro worth of re-exported products. See also: Re-exports.
