Differences in age and gender

Health care consumption is related to age, gender, state of health and income. Because there are differences between lower and higher educated with respect to these four characteristics, they can partially account for the relation between education level and health care consumption. Therefore, the relation between education level and health care consumption is analysed, but the effects of age, gender, health care and income are eliminated.
