Sustainable energy
The sustainable energy sector comprises companies active in the area of renewable energy and energy conservation. For this article the sustainable energy sector is divided into:
Production: the actual production of renewable energy.
Non-production (investment-related activities): companies active in the value chains around the production stage, such as production and installation of renewable energy systems, R&D aimed at sustainable energy technologies, transport of wind turbines, trade in biomass. Companies and institutions active in energy conservation in existing buildings and in the manufacturing industry are also included. Non-characteristic indirect effects (multiplier effects) are not included in this analysis, and displacement effects (new jobs in this sector at the expense of jobs elsewhere) in other sectors are also not taken into account.
