Religious

The figures in this article are based on the results of the Social cohesion and welfare survey. In this survey, respondents are asked whether they consider themselves as belonging to a religious denomination or ideological group, and are asked to choose from a number of categories: Roman Catholic, Reformed Churches in the Netherlands, Dutch Reformed Church, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism and ‘other denomination’.

The frequency of service attendance is determined on the basis of how many times people attend a religious service or meeting: every week, 2-3 times a month, once a month, less than once a month, or ‘seldom or never’. Respondents who replied that they did not belong to a religious denomination were included in the category ‘seldom or never’.
