Turnover courier service providers reaches record high
The overall turnover generated by providers of courier services rose by more than 9 percent in the first quarter of 2014 relative to the same period last year. This is the highest first-quarter growth ever recorded for courier service providers. Turnover has grown continually since the end of 2010. Courier companies have benefited from the growing number of online sales.
In recent years, turnover realised by online shops and mail-order firms has risen steadily. In the first quarter of this year, online shops and mail-order firms recorded a turnover growth of more than 9 percent compared to the first quarter of 2013.

Large companies account for three-quarters of turnover generated by courier service providers
Over 6 thousand businesses are active in the courier service industry; 99 percent are medium-sized and small businesses. Turnover results are unevenly spread across large, medium-sized and small firms. Medium-sized and small businesses accounted for nearly one quarter of total turnover in this branch, large companies accounted for nearly 75 percent.
