Over-65 households
The figures presented in this article refer to private households. Persons aged 65 years or older living in homes and institutions, e.g. homes for the elderly, are not taken into account. The total number of over-65 households includes singles and couples, but also households with at least one person over the age of 65, for example over-65s living with one of their children.
Supplementary income is income from labour, income generated from one’s own business, income from personal capital (e.g. the rental value of owner-occupied houses), benefits, supplementary pensions, rent allowances and other money transfers. Care allowances are not included in the supplementary income. The status of the figures presented in this article is provisional and they are based on the Income Panel Survey.
