Care indication under the Exceptional Medical Expenses Act (AWBZ)

The CIZ Centre for Care Indications decides who has the right to receive care and how much care the individual can receive under the Exceptional Medical Expenses Act (AWBZ). The CIZ can give indications for the following functions: support, personal care, nursing care, treatment and stay.
People with an AWBZ care indication can make use of care in kind directly or through an allocated personal budget for care (PGB). The care in kind is given by a care provider with whom the care unit has made arrangements. The care unit pays the care giver directly for the care provided. A personal care budget makes it possible for clients to buy or hire long-term care paid by the AWBZ. The clients select their own care providers.
