Paid parking in 155 municipalities
This year, 155 municipalities charge parking fees. The number of municipalities where motorists have to pay to park their cars has hardly changed in recent years. Parking fee revenues increase, because the rates are raised and paid parking is introduced in more and more areas. In more areas and during a larger part of the day, motorists have to pay to park their cars.
Parking fees important source of income
Parking fee revenues are an important source of income for Amsterdam. Revenues are estimated at 162 million euros in 2014, more than 27 percent of total revenues from municipal taxes. In the municipality of Zandvoort, parking fee revenues account for 26 percent of total revenues from municipal taxes. In 39 municipalities, i.e. one quarter of all municipalities charging parking fees, these revenues account for at least 10 percent of total municipal tax revenues.
