AWBZ care
Entitled to a particular type and amount of care as laid down by the Centre for Needs Assessment (CIZ).
Since 1 January 2005, the CIZ specifies the amount and type of AWBZ care individuals are entitled to for the functions: counselling, personal care, nursing, treatment and support with activities related to daily living (available since 2012) and accommodation.
Since 1 January 2007, household care is no longer financed by the AWBZ, but included in the Social Support Act (Wmo) and implemented by municipal authorities.
Under-18s with mental disorders are not evaluated by the CIZ, but by a local youth care office. Under-18s receiving AWBZ care for mental disorders and institutionalised youth care can receive care until the age of 23.
Figures regarding AWBZ care for the period 2009-2012 are not comparable from one year to the next due to changes in legislation and registration method.
