Unemployment marginally up
Adjusted for seasonal variation, 685 thousand people in the Netherlands were unemployed in September 2013, an increase by 2 thousand relative to August. Unemployment continues to rise, but the growth rate has slowed down in recent months. In September, 8.6 percent in the Dutch labour force were unemployed.

The youth unemployment rate was 16.5 percent. The unemployment rates among 25 to 44-year-olds and over-45s were 7.9 and 7.4 percent respectively.
