Terms of trade slightly deteriorated
Compared with June 2012, Dutch terms of trade of imported and exported goods slightly deteriorated in June 2013. Prices of exported goods were the same as one year previously, whereas import prices were 0.2 percent higher. In the preceding months, terms of trade had improved.
The turn from improvement into deterioration was mainly caused by price developments of crude oil. In June, crude oil was more expensive than in June 2012. In the preceding months, oil prices were lower than one year previously. The Netherlands imports much more crude oil than it exports.
