Holidays

A holiday is defined as a stay outside one’s own home for pleasure or recreation including at least one overnight stay. The concept of holidays covers domestic as well as foreign holidays and staying with family, friends and acquaintances abroad. A stay with family, friends and acquaintances living in the Netherlands is not considered a holiday, unless the people one is staying with are away most or all of the time.

A long holiday is defined as a leisure period including at least four consecutive overnight stays. A short holiday is defined as a leisure period including at least one and no more than three consecutive overnight stays.
