Disrespectful treatment
In the Veiligheidsmonitor (VM) respondents were asked if they are sometimes treated disrespectfully by the people/institutions listed below. Disrespectful treatment is defined as behaviour that the respondent feels is inappropriate:
– By strangers in the street;
– By strangers in public transport;
– By employees in shops or businesses;
– By government personnel;
– By people they know (partner, family or friends).
Possible answers are: 'often, 'sometimes', rarely or never', 'not applicable' and 'no answer'.
All respondents who answered ‘often ‘or ‘sometimes’ are included under sometimes.
