Unemployment increases further

Adjusted for seasonal variation, 650 thousand people in the Netherlands were unemployed in April 2013, an increase by 7 thousand relative to March this year. Unemployment has risen almost continuously since mid-2011. The increase in April was less substantial than in the preceding months.

In April this year, 8.2 percent of the Dutch labour force were unemployed. The unemployment rate among men was a little higher than among women: 8.2 and 8.1 percent respectively. The unemployment rate among 15 to 25-year-olds stood at 16.0 percent.
