Terms of trade deteriorate marginally
Dutch terms of trade of imported and exported goods deteriorated marginally in December 2012 relative to December 2011. Prices of exported goods were 0.5 percent higher, prices of imported goods rose by 0.7 percent. Terms of trade have been in decline relative to the same month one year previously for almost a year now, although the deterioration in December was less substantial than in November.
Export prices for food products rose most notably. Import prices of these products were also higher than twelve months previously, just as import prices of petroleum derivatives and chemical products. Both import and export prices of basic metal products were down from twelve months previously.
