House prices nearly 7 percent down from twelve months previously
Prices of existing owner-occupied dwellings sold in November 2012 were on average 6.8 percent lower than in November 2011. The price drop is less substantial than in the previous four months. The price index of existing residential property – a joint publication by Statistics Netherlands and the Land Registry Office – reflects price changes of existing owner-occupied dwellings in the Netherlands sold to private individuals.
Prices of existing own homes
According to the price index of existing residential property, house prices have hardly changed over the past three months. Just as in the preceding months, prices of existing owner-occupied dwellings sold in November 2012 were at the same level as in early 2004. They were more than 16 percent lower than in August 2008, when house prices reached a record high.
A total of almost 100 thousand house sales were registered in the first eleven months of 2012, i.e. more than 7 percent less than in the same period last year.
