Terms of trade down further
Dutch terms of trade of imported and exported goods deteriorated in August 2012 compared with August 2011. Prices of exported goods were 3.2 percent higher, prices of imported goods rose by 4.5 percent. The terms of trade had also deteriorated in the previous six months.
Just as in July, the weakening of the terms of trade was partly caused by the prices of chemical products: import prices of these products rose by more than export prices.
