Moving companies get small plus in the first quarter of 2012

Turnover of Dutch moving companies in the first quarter of 2012 was up by nearly 2 percent on the first quarter of 2011. Slightly more people are moving house again since the third quarter of 2011.

420 million turnover in 2011

Turnover in the moving sector has been stable since the second quarter of 2011. In 2011 movers realised a turnover of 420 million euro, which was slightly more than in 2010, but about a quarter less than in 2008.

Movers achieve their turnover mainly from moving services. Other services such as storage and shipping activities make up some 15 percent.

Slightly more people moving house

The number of people who moved house went up slightly in the first quarter of 2012. With this the rise continues that started in the third quarter of 2011. However, far fewer people are moving than in 2008.
