Unemployment up
Seasonally adjusted unemployment in the Netherlands stood at 489 thousand in April 2012, i.e. 24 thousand more than in March. Unemployment increased by almost 100 thousand relative to April 2011.
The unemployment rate in the Dutch labour force was 6.2 percent in April. The rate among men was marginally lower, the rate among women marginally higher. With 12.1 percent, the highest unemployment rate was found in the age category 15-24. The unemployment rates among 25 to 44-year-olds and 45 to 64-year-olds were 5.6 and 5.3 percent respectively.
