Consumer confidence drops
The mood among Dutch consumer deteriorated again in March, after three months of stability and even marginal improvement. The consumer confidence indicator dropped 3 points in March to -39.

Consumers were slightly less confident about the economic climate in general in March compared to February. This component indicator of consumer confidence fell 4 points to -65. Consumers’ opinions on the economic situation over the next twelve months deteriorated most noticeably. They were also more pessimistic about the economic situation over the past twelve months, though to a lesser extent.
Consumers were also more negative about their own financial situation. And they thought the time was somewhat more unfavourable to buy expensive items, like furniture, washing machines or TV sets. The component indicator willingness to buy dropped 2 points to -22. This indicates that willingness to buy is currently at a very low level.
