Unemployment virtually unchanged
Seasonally adjusted unemployment in the Netherlands stood at 456 thousand in December 2011, i.e. approximately the same amount as in November. Unemployment increased slightly among men, decreased somewhat among women.
The unemployment rate in the Dutch labour force was 5.8 percent in December. The rate among men was somewhat lower, among women marginally higher. With 10.5 percent, unemployment was highest in the age category 15-24. The unemployment rates among 25 to 44-year-olds and 45 to 64-year-olds were 5.5 and 4.9 percent respectively.
