Fewer bankruptcies
In December 2011, 520 businesses and institutions (excluding one-man businesses) in the Netherlands were declared bankrupt, a decline by 113 relative to November.
As the number of businesses declared bankrupt in a particular month is closely related to the number of days the courts are in session, it may vary considerably from month to month. Therefore, the three-month moving average is a more reliable indicator.
With 559, the three-month moving average was almost the same in December as in November (562). In the preceding three months, the average had risen considerably.
